The Biodiversity Collage: Understanding to Take Better Action
Biodiversity lies at the heart of many environmental challenges. To gain a better understanding of how it works, the causes of its decline and the actions we can take at our own level, the IZI teams took part in a Biodiversity Collage workshop.
This rewarding group experience gave us an opportunity to step back, reflect on our activities and consider the measures that we can gradually implement across the group.

An Engaging and Collaborative Workshop
Inspired by the Climate Fresk methodology, the Biodiversity Collage is a workshop based on collective intelligence.
Using a series of cards, participants are invited to identify the connections between ecosystems, human activities, the services provided by nature and the main causes of biodiversity loss.
This approach makes sometimes complex mechanisms more accessible and helps participants gain a clearer understanding of the many interactions between species, natural environments and human activities.
Becoming Aware of Our Dependence on Nature
Biodiversity is not limited to the protection of certain animal or plant species. It encompasses all living organisms, as well as the interactions between species and ecosystems.
It plays an essential role in our daily lives through pollination, air and water quality, soil fertility, climate regulation and the production of food resources.
The workshop also highlighted the main pressures affecting biodiversity, including the transformation of natural habitats, the overexploitation of resources, pollution, climate change and the spread of invasive alien species.
From Awareness to Action
Understanding the causes of biodiversity loss is an important first step. The Biodiversity Collage also encouraged us to consider the actions that can be taken, both individually and collectively.
Which impacts can we reduce? Which practices can we change in the short, medium and long term? How can we better integrate biodiversity conservation into our decisions and the way we carry out our activities?
These discussions brought forward a number of ideas that we now intend to explore further, with the aim of identifying practical actions suited to IZIgroup.
This initiative is fully aligned with our corporate social responsibility commitments and our desire to raise awareness among our employees of the major environmental challenges we face.
In the long term, our objective is to train all our employees on biodiversity issues in order to establish a shared foundation of knowledge across IZIgroup.
Our various entities regularly engage with this topic, making it essential for everyone to share the same reference points, terminology and understanding of the issues involved. This awareness will help each employee better understand biodiversity in both their professional practices and personal lives, while enabling them to become effective ambassadors among our teams and partners.
